Make Tech Mindful For You
A weekly gathering to engage in the intersection of mission, technology, and mindfulness.
What to Expect: A space you can enter and exit at any time, starting with 15 minutes of grounding, mindful exercises and experiences (think meditation, poetry readings, sound baths, walking tours, guided exercises, and more), 15 minutes of peer connections for all things data & tech in the mission-driven world (share celebrations, frustrations, challenges, opportunities, friendships, mentorships, etc.), and then another 15 minutes of grounding and mindfulness. Weekly gatherings are free but please register so we can keep the sessions small and engaging.
A Friday Poem
Stretching my fingers past the
length of my keyboard.
It feels strange at first,
my joints adjusting to
new positionings, the tips hesitant in
the new territory.
Knuckles pop and crack, setting off a chain reaction
in my body;
I stand, my spine complains,
rejoices.
I step, my foot asleep;
I stumble, laugh, embarrassed at myself.
My eyes de-pixelate while my cat
rubs against my leg, surprised -
is it time to get up already?
Aren't you still at work?
Yes, I am at work.
I walk to the park with the trails in the woods,
the smell of summer everywhere.
Somewhere I heard a squirrel -
nope, a chipmunk - scurried through.
Sitting on a stump but jump up
immediately covered in ants.
Brushing them off. Wonder about whether
we should code or not. Whether
we can afford or not. Whether
we should learn or not.
The weather changes and I'm running back in the rain.
Maybe if we could find a way to run that report and get it out before the rain comes again...
Maybe I can try again.
Maybe there is another way.
One more try,
then lunch.
